Description

Join St. George, Queen Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare and John Lennon in this celebration of England and its great cultural heritage.

(I have just added Ode To St. George. This is great fun - I include an excerpt below. You will receive your free copy of this poem when you place an order for the play - I will email it to you as an attachment - Enjoy!)

Narrator:             St. George's Day! April 23rd! What a day for England to celebrate!

St. George:         And who better to lead the celebrations - than me!

Churchill:             And me!

Lennon:               And me!

Queen Eliz:         And me! My birthday's just 2 days before - on the 21st!

Shakespeare:    And me! It's the same day as my birthday and the day I died!

Narrator:             Now, wait a minute. Saint George - yes, fair enough. It is your day that we are celebrating. But what are the rest of you doing here?

Queen Eliz:         (Indignantly)What monstrous cheek!

Lennon:               You tell him, Ma'am!

Churchill:             Never have so many been so insulted by so few!

Shakespeare:    "That it should come to this"!

Queen Eliz:         If I had just one of my corgis here ....

Ode to St. George (extract)

*Rule Britannia!

St. George's Day is here.

England never shall have

Anything to fear!

Land of Hope and Glory

Mother of the Free

We have no national holiday

Now how can that be?

St. George, get off your charger

And come and sort this out.

If you truly champion valour

Then leave us in no doubt.

We know the dragon was a myth

Though it made a real good story.

It was and is a favourite still

With kids and Jackanory.

We know you had no English blood

Nor stepped foot on our shores.

And armed with this surprising knowledge

Surely we have cause to pause?

So why choose you, as patron saint

To represent our land?

Come tell us what we need to know

Or we shall get you banned!

Rule Britannia!

Who is our patron saint?

Please say England never shall have

Cause to faint.
