International Day of Happiness Assembly
As it seemed pointless duplicating what I have already written, I chose the World Smile Day script to use for International Day of Happiness from the following list of ‘Happiness scripts’:
Key Stage I scripts
· Awe and Wonder Assembly
· Happy Assembly
· Happy to Be Me Assembly
Key Stage II scripts
· *Assembly on Buddhism
· Awe & Wonder Assembly
· Being Positive Assembly
· *Dance Around the World Assembly
· *Feeling Sad Assembly
· *Good to Talk
· Happy to Be Me Assembly
· Not Afraid of Failure Assembly
· Rock Star: Self Esteem Assembly
· World Smile Day Play - adapted to International Day of Happiness Assembly
*These scripts are related to the theme of happiness – in the case of Buddhism, happiness/end of suffering is central to its message; as is Dance Around the World. The two scripts ‘Feeling Sad’ and ‘Good to Talk’ have happiness as their aim and are thus also included.
It was very difficult to pick one script – but World Smile Day seemed the obvious choice as it was written for a specific day of the year. Though it can, of course, be used any other day of the year – hopefully we’re not all miserable the remaining 364!
ABOUT THIS SCRIPT
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS ASSEMBLY - Turn That Frown Upside Down!
A play to make you smile - I hope! I will probably release at least another 20 versions of this play as there was so much material to work with! I have just added the song 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams which I am sure everyone will enjoy clapping and singing along to. It is on the scripts that I send out as email attachments.
I have used this play as the basis for another - entitled 'Happy to Be Me' in the PSHE section of the website. 'Happy to Be Me' is a longer version, with additional joke and music suggestions.
Cast of 26 - easily adaptable up or down
Duration - around 20 minutes depending on number of quotations, jokes and music suggestions included (added or omitted)
