Let's Meet Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth I

This is the first in a series of 'Two Reader' Scripts that I am writing.

These scripts can either be read  by one child (plus adult i.e. child reading one character and adult taking on the role of the other); or by two children (reading to an adult).

Duration: Approximately 5 - 10 minutes - this includes reading and quiz afterwards.

Sample Text

Queen Victoria:                 Ah a man who could write! Like Charles Dickens! He told us all about the poor.

Queen Elizabeth:              Oh, them!

Queen Victoria:                 Yes, them! Those poor children! It was time things changed.

Queen Elizabeth:              In what way?

Queen Victoria:                 Free schools and free meals?

Queen Elizabeth:              Wow! That was a big step forward!

Queen Victoria:                 And so many inventions – all making our lives better. We saw the first cars, first railways, first

Queen Elizabeth:              (Interrupting) Cars? Railways?

Queen Victoria:                 Oh, I’m forgetting! You just had horses! You see, we had the Industrial Revolution

Queen Elizabeth:              Industrial Revolution?

Queen Victoria:                 Oh dear. I will sit down with you some other time and tell you all about it. Like, how we could talk to each other – sitting in different parts of the country!

Queen Elizabeth:              What?

Queen Victoria:                 Yes, that was the telephone! Then, we could see in the dark … without candles or fire.

Queen Elizabeth:              No!

Queen Victoria:                 Yes, that was electricity.

Queen Elizabeth:              Electricity?

Queen Victoria:                 We could make pictures of people and places … without a paint brush.

Queen Elizabeth:              Impossible!

Queen Victoria:                 No. That was called, photography!
