Our Planet  Assembly/Class Play

This assembly or class play looks at man's impact on the environment - in the context of five different habitats: a pond, the rainforest, the Poles, the Desert and the Ocean - and what we can do to undo the harm done.

Poison in the pond, fire in the forest, no anti-freeze in the Arctic, oil pollution in the oceans and deserts - is there no end to man's destruction of his environment? Can the human race be trained to look after the planet Earth? And what do all the animals in these diverse habitats have to say about it all? Read on and find out!

(Also available for this unit, set of 5 guided reading play scripts (Readers Theater) plus quizzes - on the five different habitats and what man can do to reverse the harmful effect he has had on the environment - see Guided Reading Play Scripts Section)

This play is FANTASTIC! I did it with my class of 19 children in Western Australia, and it completely tied in with our current studies of the world and effects on the environment. We also happened to perform in front of our entire school on the Friday just before World Environment Day! We had excellent reviews from other teachers and all the parents of the class, and the children were so proud of themselves. They enjoyed playing the parts of the different animals whilst learning about different habitats. Thanks, Sue!..
