Queen's Diamond Jubilee Assembly for Key Stage I

This is a simplified version of the Key Stage II Queen's Diamond Jubilee Assembly.

Sample Text

Narrator:             Ah, but there are certain perks to the job, are there not?

Child 8:                 Like – the Queen has not one but two birthdays a year!

Whole Cast:        (Together, in astonishment) What?

Child 9:                 One in April and one in June!

Narrator:             Alright for some!

Child 10:               And then there’s all the free nights out – at shows and theatres

Queen:                 (Coughing) Well, it’s not all fun and games, I assure you. I bet you couldn’t sit still long enough for one royal portrait – let alone the one hundred and thirty nine I’ve had to sit through!

Narrator:             But you do get to meet all the rich and famous!

Queen:                 True.

Child 11:               Like all those prime ministers from the great Sir Winston Churchill to our David Cameron

Child 12:               And to have met the first man on the moon – Neil Armstrong!

Child 13:               And the Queen’s ‘houses’ are really quite ‘comfortable’!

Music 3 They’re Changing Guard at Buckingham Palace

Child 14:               Let’s start with Buckingham Palace! It has

(holds up card with number written on)

seven hundred and seventy five rooms!

Queen:                 Hmm. More of a work place than a home. Home for me is Windsor Castle.

Child 15:               There’s also Balmoral Castle in Scotland

Queen:                 Yes, we spend a lot of summer holidays there

Child 16:               And Sandringham House in Norfolk

Queen:                 Where we spend our Christmases. Yes, we – that is, my family and I – do like to have some time to ourselves occasionally. It’s hard work being in the public eye all the time.

Narrator:             So, how do you relax? What are your favourite hobbies?

Queen:                 Well, I love walking

Child 17:               With Emma, Linnet, Monty, Holly and Willow?

Music 4 Who Let the Dogs Out – Baha Men

Queen:                 Ah! My dearest corgis!

Child 18:               And not forgetting Cider, Berry, Candy and Vulcan

Queen:                 Ah! Those adorable dorgis!

Child 19:               Dorgis?

Queen:                 That’s right. A cross between a dachshund and a corgi.

Child 20:               And your horses?

Queen:                 Ah yes! Lots of them! But few as cute as that first Shetland pony, Peggy, I was given for my fourth birthday!

Narrator:             So, not a bad life I think, your Majesty?

Queen:                 Absolutely no complaints!
