Sample Text

Music 1 – Background music

(Whole cast walks in, forming two lines of 15 each, at the front of the assembly hall, facing the audience; Narrator to the side)

Narrator:             Good morning and welcome to our assembly on Different Genres of Writing.

Music 2 Bad – Michael Jackson

(Enter Revolting Rhymes Crew)

Goldilocks:          (Sarcastically) Wow! Far out!

LRRH:                    (Yawning loudly) This is going to be a bundle of laughs!

Little Pig:              Yeah! Reckon we’re all gonna get ‘blown away’!

Narrator:             (Furiously, marching over to ‘the crew’) Er excuse me! How dare you so rudely interrupt my assembly! Who are you?

Jack:                      Part of your cast!

Narrator:             (Incredulously) Really?

Cinderella:          Oh yes!

Snow White:      We’re all members of

All Crew:              (Together) The Revolting Rhymes Crew!

(Narrator consults his/her notes)

Narrator:             Ah yes. But you’re not due on til … ah here! Right at the end! So … (pauses indignantly) kindly just wait your turn!

(Narrator points ‘crew’ back to their seats; ‘crew’ return to their seats, grumbling, looking thoroughly bored and disinterested)

Music 3 Sugar Sugar - Archies

(Enter Famous Five)

Julian:                   Oh I say!

Dick:                      How absolutely frightful!

Anne:                    What an uncouth lot!

George:               You should jolly well tell them …. (pauses) they have no business here! We’ll see them off, won’t we, Timmy?

Timmy:                 (Barks)

Narrator:             (Throwing his hands up in exasperation) And who are you?

Julian:                   Why, my dear chap! We’re

All 5:                      (Together) The Famous Five!

Anne:                    (To the others) Fancy not knowing that! I mean, we are famous after all?

Narrator:             As are all my guests today! But that doesn’t give you the right to jump the line!

(Narrator goes through his/her notees)

Now, let me see… Yes, as I thought. You’re in my Number Four slot.

George:               Shouldn’t that be, Number Five?

(All Five fall about laughing)

Anne:                    Oh George! You’re such a hoot!

Dick:                      Yes, doesn’t she just crack you up?

(Five continue laughing)

Narrator:             Hey!

(Five stop laughing abruptly)

Narrator:             That’s enough! You may all be very charming ‘off stage’ but frankly from where I’m standing, here on stage …. You’re as bad as that lot! (Pointing to Revolting Rhymes Crew)

Julian:                   (Indignantly) Well of all the ..

Narrator:             (‘Herding’ Famous Five back to their seats) Yes, yes! I know! Outrageous! Despicable! (Pauses) But I have got an assembly to put on here!

(Exit Famous Five)
